Tom Lehrer Is Alive and Well and Has Given Away All Rights to His Music
After selling out every performance at the 2024 Capital Fringe Festival and being named Best of the Fringe by DCTheatreArts.org, the darkly satirical musical revue Tom Lehrer Is Alive and Well and Has Given Away All Rights to His Music is taking its anarchic energy on the road for the Summer 2025 Economic Blackout Tour.

The acclaimed show—created and performed by Andrew Lloyd Baughman—uses a delightfully twisted framing device: Baughman appears as Professor Charles Chucklenut (shook-el-nau), a deranged academic defending a dissertation on Lehrer‘s ongoing relevance in our current age of absurdity. Featuring nearly 20 of Lehrer‘s iconic songs—like Poisoning Pigeons in the Park, National Brotherhood Week, I Wanna Go Back to Dixie, and The Masochism Tango—the show revives the satirical genius of Tom Lehrer with modern urgency and no apologies.

After its NYC debut at Don’t Tell Mama in November 2024, Cabaret Scenes called the production “highly successful,” praising Baughman as “a skilled interpreter” whose performance makes “even the darkest satire land with charm and precision.”
